2. Boat Identification and Seaworthiness

Each boat should have a unique identifier, this could be the old-style sticker (right) or a sail number or some other marker. So long as an individual craft can be identified.

A boat may well have an expired sticker that looks like this, it is fine to use it so long as it is seaworthy.

You should check the boat each time before you go afloat to make sure it is seaworthy! Examples below

    • Does it have a bung?

    • Does it have a hole in it?

    • Is the seat secure

    • Are there footrests

    • Is the mast going to fall down?

It is your responsibility to make sure that all boats in your charge are safe to use, each user should also check but you are responsible.
